Bloodwork

It is preferred to have our R3 Health new patient or repeat panel drawn before 10:30AM for the most accurate results. For men currently on injectable testosterone therapy, we recommend scheduling an appointment 48-hours after your planned weekly injection. For menstruating women, we prefer your blood to be drawn on the 21st day of your cycle.

If you are getting an R3 Health new patient or repeat panel drawn, we recommend fasting for a minimum of 5-hours prior to your appointment as it yields the most accurate baseline reading. If you are doing specialized testing, such as a food sensitivity and inflammation test or telomere, fasting is not required.

For traditional results (new patient or repeat panels) you can expect your finalized results in 7-10 business days. Specialized results may take up to 4-weeks for finalized results.

Yes, continue taking all medications and supplements as prescribed.

We recommend all new patients getting labs drawn quarterly, or every three months. This allows us to track the progress of your treatment and adjust as your levels fluctuate throughout your first year of care. After the first year, we recommend repeat labs twice annually, or every 6-months.

Intravenous Therapy

The way the body metabolizes certain nutrients may cause tinted or slightly discolored urine. Colors vary based on the IV administered, but can be bright yellow, pink, orange, light red, or even blue.

Feeling fatigued or ill after an IV is common as some of the ingredients initiate the body’s detoxing process. These symptoms should subside within 24-hours.

IV therapy has an extremely high safety profile, but it is not without small complications; one of those being bruising. Bruising after IVs is normal, and quite common, and the risk is increased with recent alcohol consumption, NSAIDs, and blood thinners (medications and supplements).

Some ingredients, like B12, NAD, and Methylene Blue, have stimulating effects as the body metabolizes them. The stimulating effects should subside within a few hours of IV administration.

Supplements
  • The best time of day to take supplements can vary depending on the type of supplement and your individual needs and preferences. Here are some general guidelines to consider:
  • Follow the instructions as provided to you on your R3 Health treatment plan and weekly schedule.
  • Take fat-soluble vitamins (Vitamin A, D, E, and K) with meals as they are absorbed best when taken with food that contains fat.
  • Take calcium and magnesium supplements at different times of the day because taking them together can interfere with the absorption of both supplements. We recommend calcium in the morning and magnesium in the evening.

Take iron supplements a minimum of 1-hour prior to ingesting caffeine, milk, calcium supplements, and antacids. If possible, take iron supplements with orange juice to help aid absorption.

Feeling nauseous after taking supplements is quite common when taking supplements on an empty stomach. If you are noticing consistent nausea after taking supplements on an empty stomach, try taking them with a meal or a small snack.

Children have different dietary needs and restrictions and because of this, we do not recommend giving your children supplements recommended for adults. If you are interested in supplements for children specifically, we carry supplements designed to specifically meet your child’s needs.

Hormone Therapy

Bioidentical hormone therapy uses compounded medications that have the same chemical structure as the hormones found naturally in your body. They are traditionally sourced from plants like yams and soy.

Sleep irregularities, mood instability, and changes in complexion are all common side effects of beginning hormone replacement therapy. They are caused from an influx of hormones that your body is not used to; think of it as being 16 again! As your body gets reacclimated to optimal hormone levels, these symptoms will subside.

As your body adjusts to an influx of hormones, it may make your period temporarily irregular (more frequent periods and/or spotting between periods). This is common and your menstrual cycle will regulate as your body gets reacclimated to optimal hormone levels.

It is ok if you miss an application or administration of your hormone therapy- life happens! If you do miss your scheduled dose, do not double it the next time you are due for your hormone therapy in an attempt to make up for the missed dose.

Pharmacy

Testosterone will crystallize if it is left in conditions outside of recommended storage temperatures (between 68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit). If your testosterone crystallizes, prepare a warm bowl of water (around 100 degrees F). While the water is warming, place the vial of crystallized testosterone into a Ziplock bag. Submerge the vial of testosterone in the warm water for approximately 15-minutes. After 15-minutes, remove the vial and swirl the vial to re-dissolve the medication. The medication should return to its normal state. If it does not, the vial of testosterone must be discarded.

Certain medications prescribed to you may be considered controlled substances. This means that the amount dispensed is controlled and monitored by agencies outside of the pharmacy. Because of this, pharmacies cannot fill these prescriptions until the original dispensed quantity has been taken in its entirety.

Any medication that is bioactive should be stored in the refrigerator. This includes peptides, HCG, and HGH (omnitrope/norditropin). Most of the bioactive medications used at R3 Health are shelf stable unrefrigerated for up to 7-days. After the 7-days, the medication will begin to lose its effectiveness.

Don’t worry if your package arrives with a melted ice pack. Bioavailable medications remain viable unrefrigerated for up to 7-days. Bioavailable products are always shipped via overnight services. If your product is stuck in transit for longer than 7-days, contact our office directly to discuss next steps.

Injections

This means that the needle didn’t get all the way through the subcutaneous or muscle tissue. The bump will dissipate as the medication gets absorbed. In the meantime, you can try to apply a warm compress to the injection site to help reduce discomfort. If the bump does not resolve within 24-hours, give our office a call.

Feeling flushed is a common side effect as the body adjusts to the medication. We see this most frequently with stimulating peptides such as sermorelin or CJC/Ipamorelin. If the flushing is mild, patients can try using a cold compress or drinking cool water to help alleviate the symptoms. Flushing symptoms should subside within 10-minutes.

Treatment Protocol

During your consultation with an R3 Health medical provider, they will discuss their recommendations on what they would like you to discontinue or remain taking as prescribed. Always discontinue or tapper any medications or supplements as recommended by a medical provider.

We sure hope not! Our primary goal is to give your body the tools it needs to start functioning optimally on its own. The main reason we recommend quarterly or bi-annual blood work is so we are able to adjust your treatment plan correctly as your health and wellness needs shift.

Beauty

Aesthetic Injectables

Most patients will begin to see the effects of neurotoxin injections within a few days to a week after the treatment. The full results typically become noticeable within 2-4 weeks. Stubborn fine lines and wrinkles may require multiple treatments for desired results.

Yes, but in order to prevent the neurotoxin from spreading beyond the intended treatment area, it is important to have the facial before the neurotoxin injection.

Avoid lying down for 4-6 hours immediately following neurotoxin administration. Additionally avoid sweating for 24-hours after administration.

No, initial swelling is normal after filler injections and may temporarily affect the size and appearance of the areas injected. This typically resolves within a few days to a week after the treatment. To help minimize swelling, be sure to ice the injection sites on-and-off for a few hours after your appointment.

Skin Rejuvenation and Facials

Candidacy for skin rejuvenation procedures varies based on complexion and status of skin health. To best determine if you are an appropriate candidate, we recommend a complimentary consultation with our licensed aesthetician.

To best prepare for a microneedling session we recommend the following:

  • Avoid excessive sun exposure 2-weeks prior to the appointment.
  • Avoid consumption of substances prone to thinning blood 7-days before appointment.
  • Discontinue all products containing retinol 7-days before appointment.
  • If you are prone to cold sores, we recommend starting an antiviral medication 48-hours prior to your appointment.

We recommend the following after your microneedling session for the best results:

  • No exercising for the first 48-hours after your appointment.
  • Avoid direct contact with the sun for 72-hours after the procedure. If you need to be in the sun keep it minimal and be sure to wear something to cover the area that was treated, like a large hat. It is important to remember that activities like driving in a car expose you to sunlight.
  • Avoid applying sunscreen and make up to the area for 24-hours after the appointment.
  • Do not scratch or peel the area that was treated.
Body Treatments

Candidacy varies based on the active state of your skin. Because of this, we recommend consulting with our licensed aesthetician to determine candidacy. Pregnancy, implanted pacemakers, and metal on or in the body are absolute contraindications.

If consistent with treatment patients will notice tightened skin and a reduction of cellulite in the area treated. Depending on what type of body contouring treatment you are receiving results last anywhere from 10-days (Brazilian massage) to 6-months (NuEra treatments).

Regenerative

This depends on the type of procedure you are receiving. For autologous stem cell procedures, our medical team requires blood work that is to be completed no sooner than 2-weeks before the procedure. If you are having injections that require live x-ray in-office, our medical team requires an MRI to be completed no sooner than 6-months prior to the procedure.

Plan to have 48-hours of downtime after your regenerative procedure at our facility. During this time you may experience soreness and discomfort at the injection sites.

Avoid alcohol consumption and anti-inflammatory medications for 48-hours post procedure.

With regenerative procedures, it is important to remember that the body is working to repair itself and that is sometimes a slow process. It may take between 6-months to a year to see the full results of the procedure. However, some patients report a reduction of symptoms as soon as a week post-procedure from the anti-inflammatory effects of the injections.

It is tough to say, especially because all inquiries and ailments are unique to the individual. Older injuries or chronic conditions likely require more than one treatment to see maximum relief.
