Medication Reconstitution Guide

Whether you’re managing your own care or assisting a loved one, this guide provides the essential information
needed for confident and accurate medication preparation
  1. Remove the protective seal from the top of the powder and diluent vials, swab the top of each vial with alcohol for sterility.
  2. Using the 20g syringe sent with the kit, draw liquid diluent to the 6.5mL mark, remove syringe from diluent.
  3. Plunge syringe into vial of powder, inject 6.5mL of diluent, remove syringe from vial.
  4. Reconstitute powder and diluent by rotating in a circular motion.

  5. Do not shake.
    Refrigerate after reconstitution.

  3. Plunge syringe into vial of powder, inject 10mL of diluent, remove syringe from vial.
  4. Reconstitute powder and diluent by rotating in a circular motion

           Refrigerate after reconstitution.

Reconstituting medication:

Certain medications, especially biologics, require reconstitution prior to administrating the medication. Reconstitution is the process of adding a solution to a powdered medication in order to create a liquid to be injected.
